Carrot Cache is a non-profit organization that is interested in:
1) promoting organic & community food strategies and
2) supporting worker co-ops.

Carrot Cache does this by supporting good people in their communities who have an idea in these same areas and who have the energy and leadership to carry it forward. Generally we support small projects in the beginning stages. The investments and grants range from $500 to $10,000 per project. These projects can be anywhere in Canada or can be used by Canadians for projects in other countries.

Monies to support Carrot Cache’s mandate come from a percentage of the profits of Carrot Common Mall as administered by Carrot Cache Community Resource
Inc. This busy retail mall, built in 1987, is a collection of stores and businesses around a central, neighbourhood friendly courtyard on the east side of Toronto at the Chester subway stop. Carrot Cache is a non-profit corporation set up by David Walsh, a private developer and community activist, and The Big Carrot Natural Foods Market to support organic agriculture and co-operative businesses. Monies were also raised from the Cooperative Resource Pool of Ontario, and from the banking sector.

This first Carrot Cache newsletter profiles several of the groups we have invested in and their journeys.
