THE STEREOIL PROCESS ST.P. 1972-1985

This page has the code, title, size, date, and styles of all pieces in the Stereoil Process by Michael Kupka. The Stereoil Process (1973-1985) consists of oil paintings and drawings created from the artist's original stereoview 3-D photos. STereoViews (STV) have a left and right view. Some, like the "Big Apple Tree", are on a single canvas or paper and have to be seen wall-eyed (looking past the screen). The pairs that are distinctly separate have been reversed left to right to allow cross-eyed viewing and the use of reflecting stereoscopes. The StereOil (STO) images (which appear three dimensional in certain circumstances) were created by painting or drawing with "both eyes". The images expose peripheral vision. This is also like painting with time as images hit your brain one bit after the other. Stereoils use two subsequent "bit" hits. The abstraction created from the mathematical disparity can add emotion to the image. To the artist these are actually more realistic.


With the exception of works with a $ in the venue code all works are Now on Sale. It would be best if the whole collection could remain together. This would facilitate an educational perspective.
